Floating Guidelines
Last updated: 15/05/2025
This experience is designed to be spacious, slow and deeply held. These guidelines are here to support your safety, comfort and the integrity of the space, for you, for others, and for the water.
Before You Book
Restrictions & Contraindications.
Please refer to the Pre-Float Essentials & Contraindications document provided by the Forge Therapy Centre.
Before You Float
Arrive gently.
Give yourself time to settle in before the session. We’ll begin with a quiet pause so your body and nervous system can land.
Caffeine & food.
Please avoid caffeine for a few hours beforehand. A light meal 1–2 hours before floating is ideal.
Skin care.
Avoid shaving or waxing the day of your session as the salt may sting freshly exposed skin.
In the Water
Shower first.
This is both a hygiene practice and a ritual. A moment to wash away the outside world before stepping into stillness.
Cover small cuts.
Use the provided balm to protect small scratches. Please do not float with larger wounds.
Menstruation.
Floating is safe and welcome during menstruation. Please use whatever products you’d normally wear while swimming.
In the water.
Move slowly.
Let your arms rest where they feel most comfortable.
Try not to rub your eyes as the salt can sting.
If you feel tension in your neck, allow your head to relax fully into the water. You can also rest your arms overhead or behind your neck for extra support.
It’s okay if your mind chatters.
You don’t have to meditate, empty your thoughts or feel a certain way. Let the experience be exactly what it is.
After the Float
Move slowly.
When your session ends, take your time. Sit up gently, stand slowly and feel your feet on the ground before stepping out.
Rinse.
Please shower to rinse the salt from your body and hair.
Land gently.
You’re invited to stay a while after your session. To rest, reflect or simply breathe. This quiet pause helps your system integrate and ground.
Aftercare.
If you’d like, we can share a short grounding practice or a moment of soft closure. There is space to journal, drink tea, or speak what feels present.
Respecting the Space
This experience is shared between you, the water and myself. Please honour:
The cleanliness and care of the float room
The quiet and reflective nature of this space
Your own needs and boundaries
A Note on Safety & Responsibility
Before your session, I ask that you take a moment to read through the Pre-Float Essentials & Contraindications document provided by the Forge Therapy Centre. It contains important health and safety information that helps ensure this experience is both safe and supportive for you and the space.
You’ll be asked to confirm that you’ve read and understood the guidelines and to sign a short waiver on the day of your session.
This is simply to acknowledge:
That you’re floating voluntarily and at your own discretion
That you’re aware of any relevant contraindications or conditions
That you agree to respect and care for the float environment
The intention behind this is formality but also care. For your body, for the water and for the container we share.
If you have any questions or hesitations, practical or personal, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
This is your space. This is your ceremony. You are held.
